Mortimer Legal, PLLC (“Mortimer Legal,” the “Firm,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect personal information when you visit www.mortimerlegal.com (the “Website”), contact the Firm, schedule or pay for a consultation, request or receive legal services, or otherwise interact with us.

2. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to personal information collected from Website visitors, prospective clients, current and former clients, consultation participants, newsletter subscribers, vendors, professional contacts, and others who interact with the Firm.
“Personal information” means information that identifies, relates to, describes, or could reasonably be linked to an individual.
This Privacy Policy does not replace the terms of a written engagement agreement or the Firm’s legal and professional obligations. If there is a conflict, applicable law, professional-conduct rules, and the engagement agreement will control.
3. Virtual and International Operations
Mortimer Legal is a U.S.-based law firm that operates through physical and virtual systems. The Firm serves clients throughout the United States and internationally, subject to applicable licensing requirements, professional-conduct rules, jurisdictional restrictions, and the nature of each matter.
Because the Firm operates virtually, personal information may be processed through email, videoconferencing, cloud storage, practice-management software, electronic-signature services, scheduling platforms, payment processors, government filing systems, client portals, and other technology providers.
Personal information may be processed in the United States or in other countries where the Firm’s service providers operate. Those countries may have privacy laws that differ from the laws of your jurisdiction.
4. Attorney-Client Relationship and Confidentiality
Contacting the Firm, submitting information through the Website, scheduling or paying for a consultation, or participating in an initial consultation does not, by itself, create an attorney-client relationship.
An attorney-client relationship is established only after the Firm completes any required conflict-of-interest review, the Firm and prospective client enter into a written engagement agreement, and any required payment or other engagement condition is satisfied.
Until an attorney-client relationship has been established, please do not submit confidential, privileged, highly sensitive, or time-critical information through the Website, Calendly, a payment platform, social media, or ordinary email.
Information provided by prospective clients may be used to respond to inquiries, conduct conflict checks, evaluate a potential engagement, schedule or conduct a consultation, and comply with legal and professional obligations. Such information may not be protected by the attorney-client privilege, although the Firm will handle it in accordance with applicable professional-conduct obligations.
Once an attorney-client relationship is established, the Firm handles client information in accordance with applicable law, professional duties, and the engagement agreement.
5. Information We Collect
Depending on how you interact with the Firm, we may collect:
Contact Information
Your name, email address, telephone number, mailing address, business or organization name, professional title, location, and communication preferences.

The Website may redirect you to Calendly to schedule calls and consultations. Calendly and the Firm may collect your name, contact information, time zone, appointment type, selected date and time, answers to scheduling questions, and appointment confirmation, cancellation, or rescheduling information.
Please do not include confidential or sensitive information in Calendly scheduling fields.

Consultation fees and other payments may be processed through Confido Legal or Square. These providers may collect your contact information, billing address, payment method, payment-card or bank information, transaction amount, transaction date, payment status, and fraud-prevention information.
When payment information is entered directly into a third-party payment platform, the Firm generally does not receive or retain complete payment-card numbers, security codes, or online banking credentials. We may receive limited transaction information, such as your name, payment amount, payment method, transaction identifier, and payment status.
Please do not include confidential legal information in payment notes, invoice descriptions, or similar fields.

We or our service providers may automatically collect your Internet Protocol address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring website, pages visited, visit dates and times, approximate location, Website interactions, and security or diagnostic information.

Service providers may process information under their own privacy notices and legal obligations. The Firm does not control every aspect of a third party’s independent privacy, security, or data-retention practices.
9. Consultation Scheduling and Payments
Scheduling or paying for a consultation:
- does not create an attorney-client relationship;
- does not guarantee that the Firm will accept your matter;
- does not authorize the Firm to act on your behalf;
- does not constitute the filing of any application, response, claim, or other legal document; and
- does not obligate the Firm to perform services beyond the consultation or other expressly purchased service.
If the Firm agrees to represent you, the relationship and scope of services will be governed by a separate written engagement agreement.
Calendly may send appointment confirmations, reminders, cancellation notices, and rescheduling communications. Confido Legal or Square may send payment confirmations, receipts, refund notices, or other transaction communications.

The Firm may use Google Analytics or a similar analytics provider. Analytics providers may collect device, browser, Website interaction, and approximate location information in accordance with their own privacy practices.
11. Sale and Sharing of Personal Information
Mortimer Legal does not sell personal information for monetary consideration.
Disclosing information to Calendly for scheduling or to Confido Legal or Square for payment processing is not intended to constitute a sale of personal information by the Firm.
Some privacy laws define “sale” or “sharing” broadly and may apply those terms to certain advertising or tracking technologies. If the Website engages in an activity treated as a sale, sharing, or targeted advertising under applicable law, the Firm will provide any required notice and opt-out mechanism.
The Firm does not use attorney-client communications, client files, complete payment credentials, or consultation payment information for targeted advertising.

Retention periods vary depending on the nature of the information, the status of the matter, applicable law, professional obligations, and the Firm’s record-retention practices.
The Firm may retain limited information about prospective clients even when no engagement results, including information necessary to document the inquiry, consultation, payment, and conflict check.
13. Information Security
The Firm uses reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information from unauthorized access, use, loss, alteration, destruction, or disclosure.
No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure. Accordingly, the Firm cannot guarantee the absolute security of personal information.

Subject to applicable law and exceptions, California residents may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, and obtain portable copies of personal information, as well as rights to opt out of sale, sharing, or certain uses of sensitive personal information.
18. Marketing Communications
You may opt out of marketing emails by using the unsubscribe link in the message or contacting info@mortimerlegal.com.
